0|0|0|||||A view of New Avalon|jadmire||22:19:14|11/17/2006|Nobody%27s mentioned the postcard yet%2C so I thought I%27d say thanks for finally giving us a view of the City in the Sphere%27s skyline%3B it%27s something I%27ve been trying to picture in my idle moments for years.%0D%0A%0D%0AI could identify the Entire State Building %28skinner%2C really%2C than I%27d thought%3B I%27d always envisioned it as being something like the Empire State on steroids%29 and the Aztechnology Pyramid right away.  I didn%27t see the IPO HQ building%2C nor did I expect to%3B at 40 stories%2C it%27s comparatively picayune.  I don%27t know what the futuristic building at the far left of the picture is%3B GENOM Tower%2C perhaps%3F And how about the low buildings in the parkland along the shore%3F I seem to recall that the New Avalon Science Museum is located alongside Lake Daniels...%0D%0A%0D%0A-Joe-

It could be%3B New Avalon%27s GENOM Tower is a pretty dull-looking building.  It%27s been compared to an upended roll of mints. %3A%29%0D%0A%0D%0A%3EAnd how about %0D%0A%3Ethe low buildings in the parkland along the shore%3F I seem to recall %0D%0A%3Ethat the New Avalon Science Museum is located alongside Lake %0D%0A%3EDaniels... %0D%0A%0D%0AThat%27s the sort of mini-ziggurat off to the left of the frame.  The white building just right of center is the Puckett%27s Landing ferry terminal %28there%27s a ferry parked there%2C in fact%29%2C and the one just left of center with the clock tower is Knights Field.  The building just behind it is the one Edison Carter was shooting from in %5Bi%5DLast Transport%5B%2Fi%5D.%0D%0A%0D%0ABoyce Memorial Medical Center is just barely visible %28it%27s the black building mostly hidden by other structures to the left of the Entire State%29%2C as is the very tippy top of the Imperial Hotel Monolith%2C which can be seen peeking out from behind the building with the grey mansard roof to the Entire State%27s right.%0D%0A%0D%0ANot visible in this shot%3A Claremont %28including Mignola Point%29 and Salutown%2C which are off to the left of the frame%2C and the Oxbow River Bridge %28spanning the mouth of the Oxbow River%29 and lower Crescent Heights%2C which are to the right.  This is a view from the northeast of Puckett%27s Landing and northern City Center.  %0D%0A%0D%0AStrangely%2C the Aztechnology Pyramid isn%27t quite as obvious when viewed from the Crescent Heights side of the Oxbow%2C despite the fact that it%27s in northern City Center.  Parallax does odd things when you%27re dealing with buildings of that size%2C and the Heights%27 slightly elevated sightline makes the Pyramid seem to %22fall away%22 into the other buildings more than the view from the beach on P%26eacute%3Brez Island.%0D%0A%0D%0A--G.%0D%0A-%3E%3C-%0D%0ABenjamin D.
