For instance%2C one of my favorite lines of all time when it was originally written%2C%0D%0A%0D%0A%22You had a %5Bi%5Dbarbecue%3F%5B%2Fi%5D  I%27m up the freaking belltower getting my mind turned inside-out and %5Bi%5Dyou%5B%2Fi%5D bastards are having KABOBS%3F%22%0D%0A%0D%0AMy favorite thing so far%2C though%2C is running across places where%2C in hindsight%2C I seem to have been foreshadowing things I didn%27t even know I was going to do yet.  Now%2C I%27m sure that in a lot of cases this is actually just because I adjusted what came later so that the parallels appeared%2C but still%2C it surprises me how often I seem to have been building hooks I didn%27t consciously know I would later need into the early material.%0D%0A%0D%0AA particular case in point for this comes in %5Bi%5DChristmas Rose%5B%2Fi%5D%2C in the scene at the Avalon Centre Galleria.  Kaitlyn spots Mike Carpenter%2C freezes%2C and starts freaking out%3B neither Corwin nor Utena has any idea what%27s happening to her or why%2C and they%27re virtually strangers to each other%2C having met less than 24 hours before%2C but just there%2C in that one instant%2C %5Bi%5Dclick%21%5B%2Fi%5D - they%27re a %5Bi%5Dteam%5B%2Fi%5D.  They agree immediately on what has to get done and%2C without needing to think about it at all%2C each trusts the other to get his or her half of it accomplished.  And that%27s... well%2C you know%2C towering romance aside%2C that%27s really the essence of those two%2C right there.%0D%0A%0D%0A%28I feel like I%27ve made this observation before%2C but it%27s not in the annotations for S1M2%2C so if it came up anywhere%2C it must%27ve cropped up at some point in the original release discussions.  Apologies for the redundancy%2C but either way%2C it%27s been a long time since I thought about it%2C and as I try to gear myself up for the S5 home stretch - which we%27re really into%2C once we get past Tau Ceti Again - this kind of thing is important for me to keep close to the top of the stack.%29%0D%0A%0D%0A--G.%0D%0A-%3E%3C-%0D%0ABenjamin D. To be honest%2C though%2C the only context I can remember for such a statement was a discussion of Juri and Kaitlyn%27s relationship where you admitted that those two came together organically and of their own accord%2C without regard for your intentions for the story line.%0D%0A%0D%0ARegardless%2C I think it%27s one of the hallmarks of a proper writer that more is going on below the surface of his mind than he is aware of when it comes to his story%2C and it leaks out through the pen%2Fkeyboard to surprise him later when it all falls together perfectly.%0D%0A%0D%0A-- Bob%0D%0A-------------------%0D%0AMy race is pacifist and does not believe in war. Such as the club Art of Noise played at that she had been in.
