In keeping with festival tradition%2C she had on her best anorak over her formal%2C high-collared tunic%2C and fur-caped trousers that looked practically new.  %22Are you guys ready to have some fun%3F%22%0D%0A%0D%0AEveryone turned and just looked at her for a moment%2C prompting her to inquire%2C %22... What%3F%22%0D%0A%0D%0A%22Is this the Nanisivik equivalent of The Hat%3F%22 Utena wondered%2C flipping a hand through her own loose%2C feathery hair.%0D%0A%0D%0AKorra%2C for the first time Utena had yet seen%2C didn%27t have most of her hair up in her customary high ponytail or the formal white-cloth-cap-covered bun she%27d sported at Utena and Corwin%27s wedding%3B her sidelocks were tied as usual%2C but the rest of her thick brown hair was down%2C falling about her shoulders and down into the laid-back hood of her anorak.  It gave her a surprisingly different look%2C and one%2C Utena realized%2C not too unlike her own.  Korra%27s hair wasn%27t feathery like hers%2C but had a tendency instead to fall in waves%2C a little like Kate%27s%3B but the unstudied%2C casual ease of the look was the same.%0D%0A%0D%0A%22Oh%2C heh%2C nah%2C%22 said Korra%2C grinning.  %22I just felt like changing up my game a little for the day. It%27s always seemed that it would be easy to make one %0D%0A%3Eyourself - make the split seam in your skirt higher%2C rotate it to the %0D%0A%3Efront%2C and wear trousers underneath.%0D%0A%0D%0AHeh%2C I had a %5Bi%5DCity of Heroes%5B%2Fi%5D character who had a costume like that%2C but that was because of a bug that made the side slit in her miniskirt render in front instead of on her hip.  I decided she%27d just roll with it and wear tight cargo pants underneath. %3A%29%0D%0A%0D%0AAs for Korra%27s%2C the cape part and the pants part are actually two separate garments%2C and I%27ve never been really clear on what the function of the cape actually is.  When I first saw an illustration of her in her original costume%2C I took the fur-edged bit hanging down around her waist for a jacket or the top half of a jumpsuit%2C tied on with the sleeves%2C as certain rakish jumpsuit-wearers in history have been known to do %28Chell in the promo art for %5Bi%5DPortal 2%5B%2Fi%5D%2C for instance%29.  There%27s at least one episode where she takes it off%2C though%2C revealing that she is%2C in fact%2C just wearing a weirdly-shaped fur blanket around her waist for no readily evident reason%2C other than it looks kind of cool.%0D%0A%0D%0A%28Then again%2C all of Korra%27s clothes are a bit like that.  In the second season when she goes to the literal-not-just-political South Pole%2C she wears an anorak%2C but it only has three-quarter sleeves and she doesn%27t wear gloves or a hat.
