The net.Eyrie

Supporting Free Speech Online

My friend Derek used to say that he cut his networking teeth on old Unix boxes, with old text tools like ftp and finger and such, and so when the Web came around, he didn't see the point.

(To give you an idea of the sort of fellow Derek was, here's a picture of him demonstrating the "Ricky Moose, Champion of Good" super-hero pose.)

[TEXT BROWSER USERS: I'm so sorry
you can't see this. It's hilarious.]

Well, I cut my teeth the same way, and I still don't really see the point of the Web. I mean sure, it's nice-looking and easy to use... it's also ponderous, difficult to set up and hard on equipment. It seems to be a law of computer usage that the better things look, the more they thrash your gear around to look that way.

On the other hand, it IS nice-looking, and in my case it's more or less free, so what the heck. Here it is, my small concession to progress: the trend-o-matic net.Eyrie. Welcome to the Lobby... just follow the happy feet.

(And here's a bonus picture, for no apparent reason.)

[TEXT BROWSER USERS: In this shot,
she's as cute as you're ever likely to see her, and that's saying
something.]

Note that "Ah, Worcester... " isn't particularly useful or pretty unless you have a graphic browser. (Not that it's all that useful in any event. :) You can still read the descriptions, but they're sort of pointless without the pictures, in most cases.
